Hi, I'm Cynthia Hale, founder of Imaginal Ways.
Welcome.
My journey has spanned 35 years across clinical practice, academic leadership, and organisational consulting. Along the way, I've discovered something essential: lasting transformation happens when we honour both practical action and deeper meaning.
Through coaching psychology, I partner with professionals navigating life's thresholds, blending insight with concrete steps forward.
MY JOURNEY TO IMAGINAL WAYS
My own path has evolved through many significant transitions. These experiences have shaped how I work with clients today.
Seeing Multiple Perspectives
Living and travelling internationally has taught me to appreciate diverse viewpoints—not just between cultures, but within individuals themselves. I understand what it's like to feel pulled in different directions, to hold contradictions within ourselves and our circumstances. This awareness helps me support clients facing complex transitions.
I've discovered that when we examine inner and outer tensions, we find unexpected insights. Acknowledging complexity, paradoxically, leads to greater clarity.
Integrating Understanding with Action
Throughout my life, I've developed a capacity to combine emotional awareness with forward momentum. In our work together, you'll find that I listen without judgement yet also offer guidance. We'll create a relationship where insight meets actionable strategies.
Listening deeply—to others and to ourselves—forms the foundation of trustworthy relationships that support us through challenging times.
Professional Foundations
My background as a seasoned psychotherapist adds a dimension to my coaching approach that is knowledgeable yet down-to-earth. While we talk, I consider many aspects of your situation. Simultaneously, we will keep our work focused and forward-moving.
From my therapy training, I bring a strengths-based perspective that spots and builds on what you're already doing well. Rather than dwelling on problems, we'll focus on recognising your strengths and putting them to work as we map out your next steps.
My studies in depth psychology taught me practical ways to tap into imagination and creativity to spark change. Years of writing and teaching helped me get better at explaining complex ideas in straightforward ways. My experience in academic leadership and consulting taught me how to create effective learning experiences in all sorts of settings—from higher education to businesses—always with an eye on real-world results.
Through all these career chapters, my core mission hasn't changed: helping people move purposefully through work and life challenges by accessing their own strengths and resources. In our work together, this means blending insight with action—getting clear about where you want to go and building practical ways to get there.

Embracing Change, Building Resilience
My recent move from the United States to the United Kingdom represents another significant transition. Establishing Imaginal Ways in London draws on my experience while embracing new beginnings.
I'll share with you the ways that I have learned to:
Face reality
Understand a full range of choices
Take time for conscious decisions
Develop resilience through change
